how are point load and uniform load translated to architectural language?
ie. is uniform load coming from the weight of the component itself ?
what is the point load refer to , column , foot , fixed furniture , louver ?

Hi @xurubi ,

I’ll do my best to help!

A point load is a load acting a small area. So they calculate it as acting on a single point.

A uniform load is a load acting across a span or significant area.

A point load might be where one column sits on a beam. A uniform load might be the load of an entire floor across a horizontal support.

Here’s some free online resources I found on the topic.

> There are three types of load i.e, Point load, distributed load and coupled load. Distributed load is further divided into two types i.e, uniform distributed load and uniform varying load....

Hope this helps!
