Hi @coachthomasmasino Regarding Question 2, Part 2: the difference between **Supplemental Design** and **Additional Design**. In the AIA B101 agreement, **Supplemental Services** are those not part of the architect’s basic services but are agreed upon at the beginning of the project and included in the initial contract. **Additional Services** , on the other hand, are those that arise unexpectedly as the project progresses and are not initially included in the contract. Article 4 of B101, under section 4.1, states that FF&E (Furniture, Fixtures, and Equipment) is part of Supplemental Services. My questions are: 1. If the owner and architect had already discussed interior design, and it wasn’t an unexpected change, why would it be considered an Additional Service? 2. In the supplemental services list, FF&E is part of supplemental services, which should include interior design, right? Could you please clarify the answer to these questions? I’m confused based on what I had learned previously. Thank you so much! ---

Hi @sh.khodabakhshi, Thank you for your patience in our response. Your understanding of Supplemental vs Additional Services is correct, and is exactly the reason why interior design services outlined in this question is considered an Additional Service in this specific scenario. While these services were discussed previously, the client **did not agree to it during contract negotiations** , so it would be considered an Additional Service _if agreed to after the contract is signed_. Although FF&E are included in the list of potential Supplemental Services in B101, it would not be included in the project scope unless specifically agreed upon at the time of contract agreement.
