Hi everyone!

I’m having trouble understanding why the option is to increase the professional liability insurance requirements, rather than either naming the civil engineer as an additional insured or adding the landscape architect as the architect’s consultant.

Could someone please explain this to me?

Welcome to the Black Spectacles Community @conceptastudiollc! Thanks for writing in with your question.

This practice question asks which provisions could significantly increase the architect’s fee. Increasing the professional liability insurance requirements directly raises the architect’s premium. Higher required limits = higher annual insurance cost = higher overhead, which can increase the architect’s fee.

Naming the civil engineer as an additional insured typically affects general liability policies and risk allocation, but it does not usually cause a major premium increase. Adding a landscape architect as a consultant changes the scope/team structure, but it doesn’t automatically increase the architect’s own insurance limits. The consultant carries their own professional liability insurance.

Hope this helps!

The 1m, 2m, general liability answer seems off. The Reference B101 revision list 10m and 20m, which differs from the question.

Typical insurance is 1m and 2m, the revision is 10x that amount. I believe the question is intending to as 10m and 20m.

This question should be revised to reflect the B101 revision. Please advise.
