PCM - difference between 'backlog' and 'accounts receivables'

Hi ARE community,

One quick question, I am wondering what’s the difference between ‘backlog’ and ‘accounts receivables’? Are they the same thing? Seems they are both the money should received but not have been paid yet?

Thank you!

Hi @whuang that’s a great question! Let’s see if one of our expert architects can help with this.
@coachjasongolub do you mind helping?

@whuang Backlog would refer to upcoming work that has just started or is yet to begin. It would provide an insight into the firm’s financial stability based on projects yet to be billed in the future. Accounts receivable would be the projects that have dollar amounts and invoices out to clients to be paid.
