PcM Practice Test 3 - Q. 60

Per B101 the cost of work is $20,000,000 and the architect’s fee is 8% of that. Shouldn’t these calculations be based on what’s in the contract and not the architect’s estimate for SD which is $19,500,000? (Assuming this estimate could change as the project moves from SD-CD.)
Any thoughts @coachjodidubyoski ?

I don’t know if there’s more info in this question that would change my answer, but per B101 11.1.2. the percentage cost is based on ‘the Owner’s budget for the Cost of the Work,’ which, as you say, would be $20,000,000 in this case. This may be in error, or there may be more info I’m missing. @coachchrishopstock any thoughts?

Hi @clappe thanks for writing in!
You’re absolutely right, AIA B101 (section 11.1.2) for this case study question notes that the architect’s fee shall be 8% of the owner’s budget for the work (which, per the architect’s memo, is $20mm).
Apologies for this error, we’ve fixed it on our end!
Best of luck in your studies.
