Please reword Civil scaling question

An architect is working on a site plan for a new expansion. When referencing the drawings from the civil engineer that were created using a computer-aided drafting (CAD) program, the architect notices that the scale is different between the two files, resulting in discrepancies in geometry.

What should the architect do to resolve this discrepancy?

I would really like for BlackSpectacles to reword this question. The question states as if the Civil engineer is using a different scale, not unit measurement. For instance an architect using a 1"=40’-0" site plan and Civil using a 1"=30’-0", the architect is correct in suggesting the civil to adjust their scale. I would never scale down a Civil drawing on my own or change their unit measurement.

@adamb Thanks for the feedback. We understand the concern you’re raising. In this question, “scale” is intended to refer to a discrepancy between the CAD files themselves (for example, differences in drawing units or how the files were imported/referenced), rather than the plotted sheet scale shown on a printed drawing.

Your perspective shows how the wording could be interpreted differently, so we’d be interested in hearing how you would rephrase the question to make that distinction clearer. Additional context on the specific wording that feels inaccurate would be helpful as we review potential revisions.

Thank you!
