Years ago, AIA sample contracts were freely available to the public, but that’s no longer the case. Today, AIA contract documents must be purchased, which leaves many ARE candidates wondering: How are we supposed to study these contracts if we don’t have easy access?
Good news: you do have access – for free!
During our weekly Virtual Workshops, we make sample AIA contracts available to all attendees. These documents are essential references in our PcM, PjM, and CE sessions, especially during Group Exercises that mirror the case study format of the ARE. It’s a great way to practice navigating contract language, interpreting clauses, and applying your knowledge in exam-like scenarios.
However, these documents, along with all Virtual Workshop materials, are only accessible during the live sessions. That’s why it’s a great idea to download your own copies so you can read, annotate, and study at your own pace.
Here’s how to access AIA contracts for free through your NCARB Record:
- Log in to your NCARB account.
- Go to your NCARB Record.
- Navigate to the Exams tab.
- Scroll down and click on the AIA Contract Docs link under Additional Resources.
- Accept the terms, then click the links to download the contracts you need.
That’s it – super easy and incredibly helpful for your studies!
Have you downloaded your own set of AIA contracts yet? If so, how have you used them in your study process?
