PcM Section 2 Quiz

I am taking the Section 2 Quiz and am reading the explanation for the question with this code:
61510.

It says that there’s a discrepancy between the engineer’s additional services in the contract and what they billed. I was pretty confused, because it says the amount they billed aligned with what I thought was laid out in the contract - that additional services were an additional 10% on top of their hourly rate (which matched the number billed). But the explanation said that the clause stating 10% led to the discrepancy, since it’s different than their standard billing rate.

Did I misunderstand the question? I understand that the additional services were more expensive than the stated billing rate, but the question specified that the “discrepancy” was found when reviewing additional services. And the contract example showed the 10% plus the typical fee, which is what was charged. So what was the discrepancy?

Any help would be appreciated!

Welcome the Black Spectacles Community @heatherwarren! We are glad to have you here.

The word discrepancy in the question is simply referring to the difference between the billed rate and contracted rate. It is not implying that the discrepancy is an error; it is just asking you to identify where that difference is coming from. The key takeaway here is that consultants will typically bill at a higher rate for additional services, compared to basic services.

Hope this helps!
