One of the correct answers according to BS is reducing floor-to -floor height. But wont that effect the clients program requirements. Storefronts are also costly and reducing the size slightly but still maintaining the visual aspect to the street can be achieved by reducing the storefront glazing slightly.
Thanks for reaching out with your question @kokate!
You are correct in that reducing floor-to-floor height does not affect the client’s programmatic requirements, which is what the question specifically indicates (and why this is correct answer choice). On the other hand, reducing storefront glazing area would affect the client’s programmatic requirements, since they specified desires for visibility from the street.
This is a great example of selecting the most correct answer choice(s). Sure, reducing storefront glazing slightly would still achieve visibility while reducing some costs, however, reducing floor-to-floor height would result in greater cost savings (due to reduced HVAC, finishes, exterior envelope, etc.) and have less of an impact on the programmatic requirements (as long as the double-height studio is still achieved).
Hope this helps!
