In workshop held on Oct 31, the question for wall A fire raring is 0 according to IBC table 508.4, since it is a wall between cafe( Occupant group M) and office( Group B).

Although I can find out this answer after studying, I feel the table 508.4 should be out into somewhere else. This table isn’t really connected with area and height. However I know there must have good reason to put this table in Chapter 5.

Please share your opinion regarding this. Any explanation is highly appreciated.

Hi,

I think I got it. For a building, the control parameter for its MAX. height and area is its system and building elements’ fire rating, except the client’s program. So it is reasonable to put table 508.4 in chapter 5 here.
