The Architect's Handbook of Professional Practice

Hello ARE Community!

During one of our workshops it was requested that key chapters to read in The Architect’s Handbook of Professional Practice" be posted. Please see below are chapters I find are most important. Please also note that these chapters are from the fifteenth edition:

Part 2: Firm Management
Chapter 5
Chapter 7 (7.4)

Part 3: Project Delivery
Chapter 9
Chapter 10
Chapter 12 (12.4)

Part 4: Contracts and Agreements
Chapter 15 (15.3)
Chapter 16 (16.2-16.4)
Chapter 17 (this is an important chapter)

Also it’s good to familiarize yourself with the types of contracts per project delivery method, which starts on page 1107 of the handbook.

I’ve also heard from candidates studying towards the exam that “The Architecture Student’s Handbook of Professional Practice” is a good “cliff notes” version of the full AHPP. I personally did not reference the student version, but I would say it’s worth checking out since I’ve heard good things. Please see the link below:
