Thanks for asking!
The key here is the difference between project and construction schedule. The project schedule is the owner’s schedule for the entire project - it includes design phases and bidding, as well as a construction period.
The construction schedule is what the contractor is responsible for.
Figure 9.3 in AHPP (15th edition) suggests it should happen before PD - that’s definitely best practice and is the answer I’d go with for the purposes of the ARE.
In reality, it can happen as you suggest, up to and including during DD.
Jori mentioned reading A101, B101, and A201 while studying for CE and we totally agree!
We also have a really helpful lecture series on contracts, which can be found here:
I didn’t understand the logic to the schedule of values not being
included in #5 question
Thanks to @coachjoricolarusso for answering that one live!
Owner will pay extra to Architect for addendum?
It depends. If the addenda is issued because the owner changed their mind about previously approved design direction, the architect should charge an additional service.
If it’s in response to a question from the bidders and it’s really about the architect clarifying their own drawings, it’s part of the architect’s basic services.
Got it. Thanks, @coachchrishopstock for the explanation.
Of course, that’s the whole point of our community! It’s a great place to post questions and have your peers chime in with their responses, and our coaches also respond to many questions.
Thank you for the info!
How do feel about testing at home -vs- at the testing center?
Thanks for the info and explanations.
I have a general question If in the question asks us to round the number and we write the exact number. They will not accept our answer?
That’s correct. You should always round as per the instructions.
Note that commas don’t matter - you can include them or not at your own preference. If the numerical value you input is correct, it will be marked correct.
Some questions will accept a small range of values - for example, questions that might have rounding in some of the steps leading up to the answer. So, don’t freak out too much about rounding but always follow the instructions!
Got it. Thanks
Great question! While there are pros and cons to both, I think it comes down to personal preference. If you want to learn more about testing at home via online proctoring, we had an ARE Live episode on the topic back in March, which you can watch here. You might also find this blog post helpful on the best resources to help you pass the ARE online.
I’ll check it out. Thank you!
