We will cover PDD knowledge and skills relating to building materials, building systems, detailing and documentation, project specifications, and adhering to code requirements. Extra studying for one of the big tests like PDD is always valuable so don’t miss it.
For question 3, wouldn’t the spacing of the lighting be finalized by the electrical engineer to ensure the proper fc for the space. The architect will be approving the design, but the question seems a bit misleading.
I really appreciate these quizzes. They tend to bring up things I have not encountered as an intern and point me in the right direction on things I need to start to learn on my own!
You bring up a good point. I think in practice, many of us would rely on an electrical engineer to determine all code requirements are met. It is common for architects to finalize spacing within limits set by the engineer, though. Lighting is an aesthetic choice that has its own rules of design and schools of thought. For example, our engineers might tell us we need 6 2x4 lights in a space, equally dispersed throughout, but the architect would be responsible for designing how those lights lay on a grid or ceiling.
Hi I’m so new to all of this. I attended the last seminar, I appreciate all your information and stories/experiences Nice to know I’m not alone in all of this!
