The Mechanical System Sizing + Layout video shows a packaged terminal unit (PTAC) as an example of a fan coil unit (FCU). The diagram also shows the units penetrating the exterior wall, which is characteristic of a PTAC because it requires outdoor air access for the condenser coil. A typical hydronic FCU does not require a facade penetration because it uses chilled/hot water from a central system and recirculates indoor air.
The same photo was used in a PPD video to illustrate a fan coil unit.
@ema.markovska Thanks for writing in! You are correct in that FCUs do not need to penetrate an exterior wall. The diagram is not necessarily showing that it is penetrating the wall - it is intended to show that it is sitting within the exterior wall.
The image shown could be either an FCU or PTAC, as they look very similar in finished settings. FCUs are also used in more industrial settings where they look quite different than this, which is what you might be picturing.
