Hi,
Which chapters from Building Construction Illustrated and Building Codes Illustrated should I study for the ARE Practice & Analysis ¶ exam?
Welcome to the Black Spectacles Community @Carolin.Roman! We are happy to have you here.
NCARB does not indicate specific chapters/sections/pages to study within their recommended references so it can be hard to pinpoint. However, we don’t suggest that you read the entire book cover to cover (as that can be unrealistic and not an efficient use of your study time).
In our practice questions, we will always provide a reference where you can go and read more about the topic presented or learn adjacent information. You can use this as a guide to target specific areas of the references in relation to relevant ARE content or topics you might be struggling with.
Here are some other strategies you can use to target specific areas of the books:
- For topics that you are very comfortable with, skim the sections for a quick refresher.
- For topics that you are somewhat comfortable with, skim the sections and flag anything that might be worth diving further into.
- For topics that you are unfamiliar with, read the full sections thoroughly and take notes.
Hope this helps!
