Partition loads

This is a question in Practice Exam 2. Is it because that office live loads are more unpredictable that engineers need to design for the partition load?
Thank you

Hi @bangyuan92 ,

Let’s see if I can help!

Can you please delete the screenshot? I’m afraid we can’t allow the posting of screenshots of any paid content (Black Spectacles or 3rd party). However, you can type out or quote questions you encounter on Black Spectacles material you have questions about!

As a quick reminder to anyone else who might be reading this, the posting of questions you encountered on the actual ARE Exams is never allowed as this violates NCARB’s candidate agreement and can get you into real trouble!

This question is specifically asking about in what situation the engineer should design for the partition load. Office buildings are the most likely to have many partitions that move often. Partitions in other project types listed tend to be more static.

The live load is included in the answer just to give you a frame of reference. The key to this question was the last line of the prompt which states, “for which of the following buildings should the engineer design for the partition load”.

Hope this helps!
