Section 2 quiz question 88918 asks us to click and identify the main circulation through a lobby on a floor plan with flooring materials shown. Where exactly is the correct location to click in the image? I clicked on the flooring material described by the answer and still got this question incorrect. None of the spaces listed in the legend identify a specific “lobby” area so I have to assume that the lobby encompasses the entire image.
I know NCARB is very picky about where they want us to click in image based questions, so just making sure I understand the acceptable extents.
Welcome to the ARE Community, @jonathanb087! Thanks for reaching out with your question.
You are correct in that clicking on the flooring material described in the answer explanation should yield the correct answer. It looks like the functionality of this question/answer may be broken on the site, so our team is looking into it. We will get it resolved soon, and appreciate you bringing it to our attention!
It may seem like these hotspot items require extreme precision, but that is not the case. All hotspot items allow you to click within a specified acceptable scoring area, so as long as you click within that zone, you would get the answer correct. See page 59 of the ARE 5.0 Guidelines. To be safe, you should try to aim for the center or largest area of whatever the question is asking you to identify, just to be sure you will get it correct (in this case, for example - the dead center in the wider area near the revolving door).
Hope this helps!
