@timothy.brown; that is tough, and good to keep in mind. I think part of why NCARB exams are tricky is because they can be a little vague. For example, in the rebar question, we don’t know the scale of the drawings. Those footings could be 2’ in depth, or 6", so for a question like this we have to just rely on our knowledge of knowing which side the rebar should go on (tension side). We have to constantly make sure we’re only answering what the question asks, not bringing in outside constraints. That said, it’s also possible you’ll get a similar question that gives dimensions, in which case then you’d want to be aware of the 3" rule
Thank you. Hello!
Thanks for explaining!
Is this mock test in the form somewhere? I am missing something
can someone please help?
@prithwi_30, try this link
Yes, it’s at the very top of this page
Here’s the link
Yikes! We’re in a heat wave right now. It’s already 88 in downtown and it’s not even noon yet. This is when I wish the libraries were open for studying.
thank you
speakers examples are funny!

We’re still talking about the exam right? I feel like now its about how to murder with GFIs
The art of Architecture falls on the thin line of murdering, or saving a life.
yes but would it be negligence or errors and omissions?
This was so helpful. Great, thorough explanations!
Hello!
Hi there, i have question that is more general on the black spectacles format. With the various changes that is about to happen to ARE format in Nov 16, do you have time frame of when we can expect to see the practice exam reflecting the changes NCARB made (such as the digital whiteboard tools, adjusting exam duration and number of questions)?
Yes, we’re working on an update as we speak. NCARB is busy putting the final touches on the updates and then we’re going to be updating our exams once it’s public. Hoping to get the updates live by early November.
love your comment Julie
