Hopefully you have time to answer before my exam in 2 days
this question about tagging walls accidently with the wrong tag- how can we confirm that this is a minor change that doesn’t change costs? what is the bathroom walls were supposed to be with a finish that is more expensive (not paint)? Am I not supposed to think about the option? this is not an absolute answer. I think they have to give more clues of materials. How can I prevent myself from falling into these “holes”.
Sorry for my delayed response @sevanb! I know your exam has already passed, but hopefully this helps with your continued studying:
For purposes of the ARE, remember that you are to accept the assumptions given in the prompt. In this scenario, the question explicitly states that the change does not modify project scope. That is your cue to treat the correction as a minor change with no cost or time impact, even if real-world experience might make you question that.
Here are some key concepts to remember:
Anchor yourself to the stated facts and nothing more; don’t go down the rabbit hole of hypothetical alternatives (i.e. “what if it costs more?”).
If the question says no scope, cost, or time impact, eliminate Change Orders and CCDs immediately.
ASIs = clarifications or minor changes that do not affect cost or schedule.
Hope this helps!
