Hardest question for me, was the one regarding retainage. From AHPP I would think of this primarily as the funds held back from each payment to the contractor and maybe materials not in-place. I had never encountered or read about other instances of the same concept. So the application to sub-contractors and ‘pick 2 more’ message took me by surprise.

The way I answered it was by process of elimination. - I may have got it wrong but I chose two more that followed the same concept of what I had read in the AHPP and left out the seemingly related description of a retaining pond or storm-water retention area and stuck with the ‘funds withheld’ approach.

Hi @jrdmathey and welcome to our ARE Community!

I’ll be sure to run this by Marc and Mike and see if we can get them to address this during the live recording tomorrow if you’d like.

Thanks, I haven’t really researched all the areas where retainage appears in the AHPP just haven’t come across some of the options listed in the choices. My guess is that was on purpose to be able to discuss it in the live session. The discussion will be helpful for me to know the full application of the verbiage.

All seemed pretty straightforward. I wasn’t ready to select 3 choices on the ‘Retainage’ question. But like jrdmathey, I just used the process of elimination to get the final selections!

Hardest question was the terminology for retainage

#2 option a seems like it may end up costing more than the original delta for the two sinks.

#3 - sneaky. - Hard to prove unless you put it in writing though. What if you mention it to the GC and they do nothing about it. Seems like they are negligent over and above. Are we talking complete liability or portion thereof?

Interesting the cards must have been set up wrong because it asked for 2 additional selections after selecting the correct one.

You’re correct, that was my error. Sorry about that!

Yeah, was so confused? C was clearly the answer…
