The question says “total width” not the width at each stair. Why would it be divided by 2 as @garaldalvesiii asks?

I think you are correct, it’s a bit confusing

the question asks for ‘calculated width per floor’ therefore you don’t divide by 2.

I figured you would do this because if you have more than 49 occupants, you need two exits. Therefore when you size the egress stairs, you would calculate it based upon two exits.

Exactly, but unfortunately that’s what the presenter indicated you should do for a selected answer of 28" instead of the total of 42". :frowning:

But the question isn’t asking about width per stair. It asks for total width.

thank you.

Thank you

good luck!

Thank you!!

thank you!

For the allowable percentage of openings question, “As close as” can be interpreted either way, isn’t it best practice to go the stricter route?

Thank you!

thank you !!

Thank you!

regarding the last question, why we don’t choose 10’ to less than 15’?

awesome!

Thank you

the chart is written as ‘10 to less than 15 feet’ which means 10’ to 14.999999’. The question says as close as 15’, therefore you use the 15’ to less than 20’ option.

‘as close as’ means 15.0 feet will be the minimum distance. Table 705.8 is a bit confusing in its wording, but the distance of ‘10 to less than 15 feet’ means 10 feet to 14.99999 feet.
